Trauma doesn't fade on its own.
Without proper treatment, traumatic memories stay locked in your nervous system – triggered by everyday situations you can't predict or control.
You can't move forward and you can bear to look back.
You're stuck. Locked in a loop of overthinking and self-blame.

Ready for Your Breakthrough?
Most clients notice the shift within weeks.
The memory that used to hijack your thoughts loses its emotional charge.
Triggers that once sent you spiraling suddenly, don't.
You sleep through the night without nightmares.
You're present in conversations instead of scanning for exits. One client described it perfectly: "The memory is still there, but it doesn't grab me anymore."
Expert EMDR Therapy for Nevada
My name is Jevita Hamilton, and I have more than two decades of experience supporting my clients through therapy – including specialized EMDR treatment.
I focus on creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore and release those experiences.
I also understand how trauma can be passed down through generations, especially in BIPOC communities, and how important it is to work through those layers of pain.
Since founding Mindful Wellness Counseling in 2018, I’ve built a team of exceptional therapists who share my commitment to trauma-informed care.
My therapeutic approach blends traditional modalities with cutting-edge, evidence-based techniques that create a stronger connection between your brain and body.

How Our Work Unfolds
We begin by creating a safe-enough space and teaching you practical grounding techniques.
Breathing exercises and visualizations will help you stay centered when strong emotions arise.
Using bilateral stimulation, we help your brain naturally reprocess traumatic memories.
This creates new neural pathways, reducing the emotional charge of painful experiences.
You’ll notice triggers becoming less intense and feel more present instead of stuck in the past.
We’ll strengthen these changes and create a plan to maintain your emotional resilience.
Frequently Asked Questions
"Do I have to talk about every traumatic detail?"
No. EMDR doesn't require you to describe what happened in graphic detail. You need to access the memory enough for your brain to process it—but you're not reliving it through lengthy storytelling. Many clients process trauma without ever verbalizing the specifics. Your therapist needs enough information to target the memory effectively, nothing more. You control what you share.
"What if EMDR makes things worse?"
EMDR doesn't retraumatize you. We build safety skills and coping techniques before touching any trauma. If processing ever feels overwhelming, we pause, use grounding techniques, and slow the pace. You're always in control. Some clients experience temporary emotional intensity as stuck feelings finally move—but that's release, not regression. We wouldn't move forward if you weren't ready.
“I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help. Why would this be different?”
EMDR works differently than talk therapy. Traditional approaches ask you to process trauma through verbal narration—which can keep you stuck in the story. EMDR activates your brain's natural healing mechanism through bilateral stimulation. It's the same process that consolidates memories during REM sleep, but we're guiding it while you're awake. Many clients who spent years in talk therapy see breakthrough with EMDR in weeks. If previous therapy didn't work, it wasn't your fault—you just needed a different approach.
"How do I know if my trauma is 'bad enough' for EMDR?"
If trauma is affecting your daily life—sleep, relationships, work, emotional regulation—it's worth treating. EMDR isn't reserved for combat veterans or severe abuse survivors. It works for car accidents, medical trauma, bullying, grief, assault, childhood experiences, and any event your nervous system coded as a threat. You don't need to compare your trauma to anyone else's. If it's holding you back, it deserves attention.

"After struggling with panic attacks for years, I was skeptical about trying EMDR. By my fourth session, I was able to drive on the highway again – something I hadn’t done in almost three years. The difference in my daily anxiety levels is night and day."
— Sarah K.

"I tried traditional talk therapy for my childhood trauma for over a decade with minimal progress. Six months of EMDR has done more for my healing than years of previous therapy. For the first time, I feel like the past doesn’t control me."
— Michael t.

"I came to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and frequent flashbacks tied to a traumatic event from years ago. The triggers no longer have the same control over my life. It’s like those memories finally let go of me."
— Jeffrey M.
